Laura Spriggs Thompson, ERYT500, has been a dedicated student of yoga since 2000 and a humble teacher since 2004. She turned to yoga in 2000 when she felt a deep stirring of her heart for something more in her life. This practice helped to lay the foundation of support and nourishment that she needed through many difficult times, including the illness and loss of her first husband to cancer. Her early studies and training were primarily in Anusara Yoga, an uplifting style of Hatha Yoga that combines precise alignment instruction with life-affirming philosophy. In 2009, Laura became the first certified Anusara Yoga teacher in Indiana, through one of the most rigorous yoga certification programs. Although she is no longer affiliated with Anusara Yoga, she draws on much of what she learned for her teaching and her own practice as well as drawing on inspiration from many sources. Her classes are a blend of flow, detailed alignment instruction, and themes to connect more deeply to the heart. She likes to challenge her students, while honoring their boundaries, taking them deeper in body, mind, and heart in a safe environment. Her favorite part of teaching is seeing the shift in students from the beginning to the end of class. Laura remarried and lives with her husband and two daughters in Indianapolis. She worked in the environmental field for 13 years, but in 2015, she transitioned to staying home with her girls and teaching yoga. She enjoys spending time with family, experimenting with healthy meals, hiking, trail running, and aerial silks. Come check out one of her classes at Nourish Wellness or CITYOGA!
